The Motto of WIGC

The Women’s Income Generation Centre (WIGC) is a Secular Charitable Women Organisation, established on 20th June, 1994 with Indira Oinam as the Secretary. The motto for WIGC is Service, Equality, Peace & Development and works with a mission for welfare, upliftment and empowerment of weaker section of society, particularly women and children. It constantly strives to ensure a life with dignity and prosperity of the poor and the underprivileged by strengthening their resource base and capabilities through advocacy, improved knowledge and life skill trainings. WIGC’s objectives revolve around the socio-economic upliftment of the weaker section, specially the destitute women through craftsmanship for their economic self-reliance while also providing care and protection of destitute women and children.

Our Secretary

Indira Oinam strongly believes that poverty alleviation will improve the pace and quality of economic development. She also practice to focus attention on groups which are disadvantageously placed in society, but have the potential for pursuing socially and economically productive activities. One of her main objectives is to support the rural and suburban poor especially people in the hills, border areas and SC/ST Communities.

WIGC Engagements

WIGC’s filed of engagements are therefore Women Empowerment, Promotion of SHGs, Handloom and Handicrafts, Life Skill training, Skill upgradation, Hill Area/Land Development, Community Asset making, Socio-economic development, Health & Sanitation, Art & Culture, Environment, Tourism, Youth Empowerment, Employment Generation, etc.
